Many advantages of POF for Network

POF has already a transmission medium in industrial and automobile networks due to its high reliability in even the most rugged environments. Now POF has been found another great application in home networks.

Due to data rates reaching one Gigabit, and assured quality of every device in the residence, POF now is the most interesting technology for 100 Mbps Ethernet and 250 Mbps Optical FireWire. These features of POF are especially advantageous for FTTH or triple play services over other home network transmission media, including CAT5/CAT6. Follows are other advantages of POF for Network:

1. Quick and Easy to Install
POF can be installed and deployed by any normal person using some simple tools and cheap POF connectors or device, like LC, SMI, SC, EDL300t, POF Switch, POF USB Adapter, POF Multimedia Socket developed by Hwaying, Firecomm, Molex etc.

2. High Bandwidth
Now the highest data POF can offer reaches one Gigabit, and POF is assured to provide quality service to every device in the residence.

3. Small and Unobtrusive
The diameter of POF used for Network is 1.0/2.2mm. 1.0mm is the POF core, while 2.2mm is the POF Cable. The small diameter of POF cable makes it can be easily deployed in new construction or retrofit installations either inside wall cavities or outside the wall - along baseboards, under carpets, or anywhere cable is typically run.

4. Immunity to Electrical Noise
Due to the data transmitted in POF is optical light, POF is completely immune to electromagnetism, electrical noise. That means Data transmitted in POF will be not interfered by the existing copper so it can even be installed next to electrical cabling. This is very important for multimedia data transmission, in which the quality of the signal could be negatively impacted by external noise.

5. Simple Design
Due to one POF can transmit IPTV, Network, Telephone data at the same time, POF is ideal and great transmission medium for architects and office/home designers. Meanwhile POF can be used for point-to-point links currently of 50m for 250 Mbps and up to a maximum of 100m for 100 Mbps with support for low-cost repeaters that extend links and daisy-chains from room to room.

6. Quick Troubleshooting with Visible Light
Troubleshooting is quick and easy as POF uses a visible eye-safe red light to transfer data from one device to another. In fact, it's the only interconnect technology where the signal can be seen at both ends. A quick glance inside the cable will indicate connectivity to the network - a red light seen by the human eye means the network is connected. It's that simple.

7. Cost Effective
POF, connectors, and fiber optic transceivers are low-cost consumer parts - ideal for installers who save on cable costs and installation, testing and maintenance time.
