British Telecom to expand FTTx range of services


On June 26, British Telecom access network business openreach announced that will for 98 new exchange nodes to provide fiber optic broadband Business.This is one part of the fiber optic network upgrade plan which British Telecom £ 2.5 billion fiber optic network upgrade plan.These exchange nodes all over Britain, are expected to open services by the end of 2013. This deployment will allow the Openreach's FTTx users increased by 800000 or more. British Telecom plans to provide fiber-optic broadband services for two-thirds of UK households by the end of 2014.

BT's FTTC service currently supports 80Mbps downlink and 20Mbps uplink bandwidth. FTTP business support 110Mbps downstream bandwidth, and will supports 330Mbps bandwidth in the future.
