POF - Fiber Optical Connector
Introduction
Hwaying perfected Plastic Optical Fiber (POF) terminations to the following connectors: Toslink, Miniplug, FC, SC, ST and SMA. Our technicians also have extensive experience terminating POF connectors and couplers from Avago. There is a variety of plastic optic fiber to choose from for your patch cord or pigtail, including fiber for high temperature and for industrial, high vibration/flex environments. Light-weight, and with a higher tolerance for scratches than glass fiber (GOF), Plastic Optical Fiber (POF) works well over short distances (recommended up to 100m, although POF for longer runs and transmission rates of up to 3Gb/sec are being developed) across a number of platforms from consumer electronics, FTTx and video to industrial applications and sensors. POF fibers used to have a high numerical aperture ranging from 0.3 to 0.5, but it is now possible to get numerical apertures of just under 0.2. We offer below as off-the-shelf items. Feature
