Compared to its application in signs and illuminated decorations, transmission medium for data communications is another big market for POF due to recent developments in technology and Network.
Due to Light source / optical model technology restrict, POF hasn't fulfilled its potential. As these higher speed light sources developed out, such as those provided by Firecomms, Avago, Now POF is used in high-speed car and home networks. Competing with copper wires, coaxial cables, glass optical fibers, and wireless, POF can provide higher bandwidth, substantially lower installed cost, and higher tolerance to electromagnetic interference, easier termination, and lighter weight.
