Plastic Optical Fiber, shorted for POF is now widely used in the industry, motor industry and FTTH Network. Many famous cars now have applied POF cables connecting their sophisticated electronic engine management and media systems. The System knows as MOST system.

Due to the transmission distance, POF has always come second to optical fiber. The maximum distance POF can reach is only 100m while Glass optical Fiber or Silica Optical Fiber can reach many Km without the need for regeneration. However, in the home or cars, the distance restriction is not a problem as most cable runs are no more than about 50 meters. While POF is safer to use and clever design, easier to install, lower cost maintenance than GOF, now the POF is become the best one for home network.
