Many advantages of POF for Network
POF has already a transmission medium in industrial and automobile networks due to its high reliability in even the most rugged environments. Now POF has been found another great application in home networks.
Due to data rates reaching one Gigabit, and assured quality of every device in the residence, POF now is the most interesting technology for 100 Mbps Ethernet and 250 Mbps Optical FireWire. These features of POF are especially advantageous for FTTH or triple play services over other home network transmission media, including CAT5/CAT6. Follows are other advantages of POF for Network:

A quick glance inside the cable will indicate connectivity to the network - a red light seen by the human eye means the network is connected. It's that simple.
